Building
what matters
Our Capital Campaign to power The Linda & Don Brodie FamilyMatters Center with the people and programs it needs to serve the children and families of our community.
The Linda & Don Brodie FamilyMatters Center will offer family strengthening, wellness, and support for families raising children with disabilities and other challenges.
Impacting
what matters
The work we’ll do inside our new center will radiate outward to the Greater Philadelphia Area as we serve more children and their families.
Children are safer because of FamilyMatters no cost, specialized, therapeutic case management and support services.

Family Strengthening
Our Family Strengthening Program will benefit at-risk families by offering free support to help navigate challenges and crises. As a result, stress levels will decrease, and the overall safety and functioning of the family will be improved. Since opening our office in 2014, FamilyMatters has remained 100% successful in keeping the families we serve intact with no children needing out of home placement.
Child Enrichment
Our Child Enrichment Programs offer children with special needs opportunities for socialization and skill building while also giving their parents support. Children with developmental disabilities are often excluded from social and recreational activities. This program allows these children to express themselves and have fun while developing social skills and making friends. The program also promotes inclusion and diversity by including neurotypical children as well as those with disabilities. The inclusion of neurotypical children promotes understanding, acceptance, and appreciation of each other’s differences.
Respite
The Respite Program will also benefit children with special needs by supporting their families in efforts to decrease stress levels in the home. The high levels of stress that families raising children with special needs experience places them at increased risk for disruption and breakdown. Since 80% of marriages involving parents of children with special needs end in divorce, this program aims to decrease the stress of caregiving by offering parents time to focus on themselves and gain the support of others in their community. If parents are empowered to prioritize their own self-care, they will in turn be healthier caregivers to their children, creating stronger family environments.
Expanded Service Offerings
Our commitment to providing care, safety, and support to families remains unwavering. As we build upon our foundation within JAFCO, we plan to expand our services like never before.
Children’s Enrichment Programs
These activities are designed to help children learn social skills, life skills, build self esteem, make friends and just have fun. Our enrichment programs also give caregivers time to renew and relax while their child participates in a variety of exciting activities. With our new space we will be able to offer these programs to a wider variety of age groups and ability levels.
Family Support
Parents and caregivers will be offered educational opportunities to better understand a diagnosis and how to advocate for their children to help them reach their full potential. A full array of support groups will be offered to all family members to ensure we are supporting the whole family. We will be able to enhance these offerings in our new space to help caregivers feel they have the tools they need to be successful.
Supervised Visitation
We will be able to increase the number of supervised visits we can conduct, expanding this service further and offering it to more families who rely on supervised visits to see a child or family member.
Respite
Children will be able to come to a comfortable and safe place to spend the day and/or night with friends, engaging in enjoyable activities. This will allow parents and caregivers to take some focused time for themselves, spend time with a spouse or partner, with friends or with their other children
Stand with us. Help make an even bigger impact.
We’re off to a great start, but we still need our community’s support, no matter how big or how small, to help us power our future space with the people and programs it needs to make sure it’s everything our community wants, needs and deserves.
